The hermitage was born thanks to the efforts of hierodeacon Nifon from the Ciolanu Monastery, on a plot of land donated by the priest Nițu Fințescu, in 1811.

The church of the cemetery, located near the psychiatric hospital, was built in 1856. However, in 1864, with the secularization of the monastic assets, the hermitage was abolished and a hospital was established in its space at the end of the 19th century  treatment of lung diseases.

Starting in 1967, this tuberculosis hospital was transformed into a ward of the Săpoca Neuropsychiatry Hospital.  However, in the year 1990, the hermitage was brought back to life and reactivated.
