On the northern side of the Romanian square is the building of the Academy of Economic Studies, founded in 1919.

The building was built in 1926, according to the projects of the architects Grigore Cerchez and Van Sannen-Algi. The facade facing the Roman Square, designed in a classical architectural style with influences from the French Renaissance, presents a slight concavity, respecting the outline of the square.

Inside the dome, in the hall of festivities, there is a fresco of impressive dimensions, made by the artist Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck, which illustrates the history of Romanian trade over time.

In 1967, in the context of the expansion of higher economic education, a new building was erected at the intersection of Mihai Eminescu and Calea Dorobanti streets.
