The house was originally owned by the paharnic Manolache Faca. In 1840, he sold it to Princess Cleopatra Trubetkoi, born Cleopatra Ghica.
Here, in the residence of Princess Trubețkoi, one of the most outstanding personalities of romantic music, the eminent composer and pianist Franz Lizst, lived and gave a recital at the end of 1846 during the usual high society evenings held here.
The Trubețkoi House, currently, is part of the few Bucharest constructions from the first half of the 19th century that have kept unchanged both the neoclassical architectural appearance of the exterior and the interior decoration of the rooms.
