In the region of the Southern Carpathians, the Cindrel, Cibin or Sibiului Mountains stand out for their altitude, the Cindrel peak having 2244 meters, and for the diversity and beauty of the relief.
If we analyze them as a whole, the Cindrel Mountains, located in the southwestern part of Sibiu county, are distinguished by their gentle and long ridges mostly covered by pastures, which favored the practice of shepherding, the main occupation of the locals. A rich atmosphere is felt in the long string of villages at their foot, known as Mărginime. The coniferous forests that start at an altitude of over 1200 meters, the Iezerul Mare and Iezerul Mic glacial lakes, the enchanting views and the absolute silence attract at any time of the year many tourists who are passionate about all the wonders that these mountains offer.
