Plaiul Hoţilor is the name given to the saddle located in the extension of Păduchiosul Mountain, where the paved road connecting Sinaia to Moroieni crosses the watershed between Prahova Valley and Ialomicioarei Valley.
To the east of this road, which passes through Plaiul Hoților, one can observe a specific characteristic of Cretaceous flysch formations, namely the transition from Hauterrivian to Barremian.
From west to east, grayish-yellow clay-marly rocks appear, followed by hard, leafy marls with carbonized plant remains, then tilloid conglomerates with Tithonic limestone blocks and hard clay-marly shales with calcite veins, which belong to the Sinaia strata. On both slopes there are massive blocks of limestone, which contain a rich fauna of Stramberg. In order to be protected from the danger of exploitation, an area of 6 hectares was declared a nature reserve.
