The construction of the church, made of river stone and brick, was financed by the village between 1818 and 1821. The painting, done by Nicolae Grecu, was completed in 1824, according to the inscription.

The church has an elongated rectangular plan with a semicircular apse, and a two-story bell tower was added later. The separation of the men's nave from the women's nave is clearer here than in other churches, where it is less obvious. Near the entrance to the church is a stone troit, painted by the local craftsman Matei Purcariu "Șimforea".

The painting of the church, fairly well preserved, was made in fresco by Nicolae Grecu (the son). On the vault of the nave you can see the "Pantocrator", probably made after a model, due to the expressiveness of the face. On the arch between the nave and the pronaos are represented the "Passions of the Lord", with picturesque and dynamic characters. The pronaos is decorated with images in which the main characters are women, and the scenes on the ground floor of the tower depict social and moralizing themes of the "Last Judgment".
